Welcome to Nametags 101 and Lanyards 101

The goal here is to help you get on the right track to choosing a nametag, nameplate or lanyard that promotes the right vision and appearance for your organization.

Before we get started, let's go over a few things you may want to consider...(remember, your teacher is biased in Nametags 101, so you are allowed to disagree wherever you would like.)

As I see it there are two main categories of nametags, those that are name-focused and those that are logo-focused.

Most people need nametags to identify themselves, whether in a group to each other or to customers and clients.  These are the name-focused nametags.  In order to accentuate who you are, the name should be the focus of the nametag.  Usually the name is bigger, bolder or stands out in some other way.  The name should be legible from 3-6 feet away for most people.  Titles and logos need only be legible from 2-4 feet away.  If the people you serve come to you, such as in restaurants, hotels, places of business, clubs, schools, organizations, etc., they usually know where they are and a name-focused tag is sufficient.

Logo-focused nametags are usually better-suited for those companies who want their logo seen from a distance.  If you want to be noticed from across the room by your logo, then this is the way to go.  When someone approaches you, they can then read your name.  These types of nametags are usually worn by those who go to the people they serve.  For example, pharmaceutical sales, realtors, trade show participants, business to business salespeople, etc. will use this type of nametag.

Have you decided what you'd like...if you haven't yet, we've got time.

Now let's ask a few questions...

Do you have a logo.  By logo I am referring to any picture or graphic that cannot be recreated in text format.  If you do have logo, please click here.  If you do NOT have logo, please click here.
